DRAWING RESTRAINT 23 was performed at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, in September 2015. A master rigger resembling Ernest Hemingway lowered a 5,000-pound graphite block from a gantry onto its wooden sleds and secured it with ropes. He exited through a storage space filled with art crates. A women's football team entered the museum and began to drag the block around the exhibition galleries, marking the walls. A young woman appeared on the museum mezzanine, gazing at a gold sculpture and watching the efforts of the football team below. The football team marked the entire perimeter of the exhibition, and then dropped the ropes and exited.
